    1. Carnation! Found DUCT and TRIATHLON, didn’t see the AB- words 🙁
      NONALCOHOLIC
      CONDUIT / CONDUCTION
      HAIRBAND

      1. I was happy with my unlinked hurl abdication. Shades of Edward V111. Throwing down his crown….”then I won’t be king”!

    1. I got the first word more easily than I thought but never got your second answer, third row down. Is there a particular dictionary or program you use? If you want to keep them secret, I understand but at 82, I found the last clue very difficult and never found it. Once I got hooked on these games, I became a little nuts when I can’t find a word. Lolol.

Thanks for your help so often.

    1. NYT has absolutely no credibility when in comes to this puzzle the words and what’s worse the compound words that are allowed are ridiculous. This should be a puzzle that a person could do in their lunch hour or coffee break. Not hours spent on a computer looking for answers and cheating .

      1. It’s not required that you solve it in two words. That’s just an extra level of excellence for the masochistic.

Today’s words were actually quite common.

  2. DIACATHOLICON — NONURBAN Country cure-all.

Started with CONDITION/CONDITIONAL/UNCONDITIONAL but couldn’t connect. Also found LOCATION/LOCATIONAL, NATIONAL, and DILATION

    1. No one noticed when neighboring venues scheduled the annual CatholiCon and DiaboliCon on the same weekend. It was horns and halos all the way down.

  3. Samuel Hanwich

Couldn’t let go of UNCONDITIONAL. Had ABDUCTION and DUATHLON, but didn’t see the OA. Also had HAIRCLOTH and HANDBOUND, but didn’t spend enough time to link them together.

  4. Apparently I’ve been misspelling triathlon all my life – thought there was another A in it 🙄
